Find a FAS Office

FAS' Caribbean Basin Agricultural Trade Office (CBATO) was established in January of 1996.  Located just south of downtown Miami, the CBATO is the only FAS overseas post, which due to logistics and cost, is located in the United States.  The CBATO covers 20 island nations, territories and dependencies, which include:

1.Anguilla  2.Antigua & Barbuda  3.Aruba  4.The Bahamas 5.Barbados  6.Bermuda  7.British Virgin Islands  8.Cayman Islands  9.Dominica  10.Guadeloupe & Martinique 11.Grenada  12.Montserrat  13.Netherlands Antilles  14.St. Barthelemy  15.St. Kitts & Nevis  16.St. Lucia  17.St. Martin  18.St. Vincent & the Grenadines  19.Trinidad & Tobago  20.Turks & Caicos

It is important to note that FAS also has a regional Office of Agricultural Affairs in Santo Domingo, which covers the Dominican Republic, Jamaica and Haiti.

As a whole, the Caribbean Islands are the seventh largest regional market for U.S. exports of agricultural, fish and forestry products.  In 2004 U.S. agricultural exports to the region totaled 2.0 billion, up 17 percent from a year earlier, and surpassing U.S. agricultural exports to both Central and South America.  With limited arable land, the islands depend largely on imports to satisfy their own food needs and that of the 12 million stay-over tourists who visit the region annually.
